Electric vehicles could make up 15 to 35 percent of new vehicle sales globally by 2040, according to a report released Thursday by IHS Markit.
That’s a wide range, and other groups have made similar wide-ranging projections. What is clear is that electric vehicles — along with most alternative fuel options — today make up a tiny, but growing, percentage of the global and U.S. vehicle market.
