Guatemalan Coffee

First introduced to the country in the mid-1700’s, Guatemala has gained the reputation of being one of the world’s top coffee producers. Traditionally one of the top 10 largest exporters, production regions include the Fraijanes Plateau, Antigua, Rainforest Coban, Volcan San Marcos, and Atitlan.

In 1960, Guatemalan coffee growers developed their own union known as Anacafé, which represents over 125,000 producers who farm over 277,000 hectares. Annual production averages over 3 million bags, half of which is exported to the United States.
